We hoped EA would have announced Battlefield 2143 at GDC 2016, but it didn’t happen. Unlike the two previous games in the series, the newest Battlefield game was not announced at the Game Developer’s Conference this year in San Francisco.
Unlike BF3 and BF4, EA chose not to reveal the latest Battlefield game at the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco.
In fact, there wasn’t even a hint at a game — any EA game. Developer DICE was present at GDC, but only to showcase new game engine technologies behind closed doors.
BF3 was announced at GDC in 2011, and BF4 at GDC in 2013. Both were released later that year, respectively.
Now it looks like we’ll have to wait until E3 in June for the official announcement, unless EA and DICE have a special even planned beforehand.
Which could be the case — EA has said that they will not have a presence on the show floor E3 2016, and will instead host their own event concurrently.
EA’s event, called “EA Play”, will focus on the publisher’s upcoming games. And one of those will be Battlefield 2143. Unlike E3, EA’s Event will be open to the public, not just the gaming press.
Either way, we’ll be covering both EA Play and E3.
